Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a wind shield from being scratched when a wiper is not actuated, by providing a surface pressure adjusting means adapted so that the surface pressure applied to the wind shield from the wiper arm via a wiper blade becomes variable. CONSTITUTION:A motor case 8 in which a motor 7 is accommodated is fitted in a cover 6 of a wiper unit base 5. A cam groove 10 is formed around the circumference of a sleeve 9 of the motor case 8, while a cam pole 11 to be engaged with the groove 10 is projected from a base 5. A manual dial 12 having a lock cam 13 on its outer circumference is integrally mounted on the base end of the motor case 8. A lock piece 15 is fitted in the base 5, while a lock button 16 and a spring 14 permit the lock cam 13 to engage of disengage the lock piece 15. In this constitution, the dial 12 is turned and the motor case 8 is moved by the cam 10, so that a pressure to be applied to a blade 21 is changed whether a wiper is actuated or not.
