Abstract
PURPOSE:To perform the connection of the optical fibers readily and accurately, by passing two divided parallel luminous fluxes, combining them, and connecting the fibers by observing the interference fringes. CONSTITUTION:The parallel monochromatic light emitted from a light source 221 is split into two parallel luminous fluxes through a half mirror 231 and a mirror 241. The fluxes pass the optical fibers 211 and 212. They are combined through a mirror 242 and a half mirror 232 and inputted to a microscope 222. By observing the interference fringes, the axes of the optical fibers 211 and 212 are aligned, and the connection is performed. Since the alignment of the optical fibers 211 and 212 can be performed at the connecting position, the connecting work can be performed readily and accurately.
