Abstract
PURPOSE:To greatly improve the performance efficiency and the reliability in the engagement of male and female screw rotors, by designing the tooth form of both rotors in consideration with the temperature thereof so that the optimum clearance is maintained therebetween during actual operation. CONSTITUTION:The basic tooth form 8 of a male rotor is deformed into a rotor tooth form 9 due to the thermal expansion of rotors 1, 2 during actual operation. Such a deformed rotor tooth form 9 can be previously determined by a calculation method such as, for example, a finite element method on the basis of the temperature distribution which is beforehand obtained through the measurement of the internal temperature of the rotor. The rotor tooth form 10 of the female rotor 1 created by the rotor tooth form 9 of the male rotor 9 is directly determined from the rotor tooth form 9 deformed due to its thermal expansion. Further, the rotor tooth form 11 of the female rotor 1 in its normal temperature can be obtained by cooling the female rotor 1 down to the normal temperature. Thus, the minimum clearance may be maintained over the whole range of the engagement of both rotors by creating the rotor tooth form in consideration with the rotor temperature as above-mentioned.
