Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the titled compound useful as a raw material of polyurethane and carbamate pesticides, etc., by the thermal decomposition of a carbamic acid ester in the pesence of a catalyst containing element of rare earth matal, animony or bismuth, or their oxides, etc.
CONSTITUTION: An isocyanate is prepared by the thermal decomposition of a carbamic acid ester (e.g. methyl carbanylate, tricarbamic acid methyl ester, etc.) in a solvent inert to the isocyanate (e.g. hexane, heptane, etc.) preferably at 100W350°C, in the presence of a catalyst containing one or more substances selected from elementary rare earth metals (e.g. Sc, Y, La, etc.), antimony or bismuth, their oxides (e.g. LaAlO3, Sb2O3, Bi2O3, etc.), sulfides, and salts.
EFFECT: The side reaction of producing high-boiling substance can be suppressed, and the objective compound can be obtained in high yield.
