Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled composition with an excellent effect of preventing evolution of H2S having an antibacterial activity against a sulfate-reducing bacterium, which contains a specified active material.
CONSTITUTION: At least one active material selected from 1,2-bis(bromoacetoxy)ethane, 1,4-bis(bromoacetoxy)-2-butene, 2-bromo-4'-hydroxy acetophenone and benzyl bromoacetate is mixed with a dispersion medium or a solvent in the presence of an emulsifier.
EFFECT: Because the composition is a bactericidal drug having a low solubility in water and a high specific gravity, it settles at the bottom of a waste water treating tank and gradually dissolved to exert a bactericidal or growth inhibiting effect against a sulfate-reducing bacterium growing in a sludge with a relatively small amt.
