Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable heating for the rear seat of an automobile and defrosting on its rear window pane, by providing closers in the coolant passages of a main and an auxiliary indoor heat exchangers of a heat-pump-type air conditioner for the automobile so that the closers can be opened. CONSTITUTION:When a hot water heater 21 cannot be used, as at the starting in very cold weather, heating is effected first by a main indoor heat exchanger 9. A gaseous coolant supplied from a compressor 1 and having high pressure and tempreature flows into the main heat exchanger 9 to give heat to the air in the vehicle chamber. At that time, the coolant is condensed into liquid. The liquid coolant flows into a liquid tank 6 through a check valve 10. The heated air is blown off in front of the driver's seat to heat the vehicle chamber. The high-pressure liquid coolant supplied from the liquid tank 6 is changed into a wet coolant of low temperature and pressure by an expansion valve for heating and absorbs heat from the external air in an outdoor heat exchanger 4 so that the coolant is evaporated into gas of low temperature and pressure and then returns to the compressor 1. After a prescribed time, heating operation is effected by the hot water heater 21. Simultaneously, a coolant passage closer 14 is shut off and another closer 13 is opened to effectuate heating for the rear seat by an auxiliary indoor heat exchanger 12.
