Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform call and data communication simultaneously without interrupting voice communication by providing a multiplexer between a digital vocoder and an MODEM and communicating data between synchronous data terminals. CONSTITUTION:A voice signal is converted into a framed digital data by a digital vocoder 3. When detecting a specific code indicating no call or no voice in calling from a frame sent from the vocoder 3, the transmitting part of a multiplexer 1 replaces the spectrum information of the frame with a data from a synchronous data terminal 5. Then the transmitting part transmits the replaced data to the receiving part of a multiplexer 2 through an MODEM8, a transmission line 7 and an MODEM9 in the opposite side. When detecting the specific code, the receiving part of the multiplexer 2 interprets that the transmitting part of the multiplexer 1 has inserted the spectrum information data and sends the signal to a synchronous data terminal 6.
