Abstract
PURPOSE:To form and record directly a required image on a general ordinary paper well electrostatically, by utilizing a low water-retaining power of this paper conversely and combining the thermal effect of an infrared laser beam. CONSTITUTION:When the surface of a general ordinary paper 1 is exposed to an infrared laser beam L selectively in a required image pattern by the beam scanning system or the like, water in an exposed part 11 of the paper is vaporized quickly, and the water-retaining power of this part 11 becomes higher than that of an unexposed part 12. Next, the surface of the paper 1 is charged uniformly by a positive or negative optional polarity to form and hold an electrostatic latent image 13 corresponding to the resistance pattern on the surface of the paper 1. This electrostatic latent image 13 is developed by a proper method and is fixed, thus obtaining a copy where a permanent image is recorded.
