Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease cost of fuel and to romove hydrocarbon or carbon monoxide etc. in the exhaust gas by using the air rich in oxygen with higher concn. of oxygen than the ordinary air as combustion improver in a Diesel engine. CONSTITUTION:The air being rich in oxygen with higher concn. of oxygen than the ordinary air is used as combustion improver in Diesel engine which uses kerosene or heavey oil as fuel. The concn. of oxygen in the air being rich in oxygen is most preferable in the range of 21%-25%. Low concn. of oxygen can not show sufficient effect of decrease in the cost of fuel. Higher concn. than 25% can of course bring about on effect for saving fuel, but the cost in the production of such air rich in oxygen is too high. Thus the effect of decrease in the cost of fuel and removal of hydrocarbon or carbon monoxide in the exhaust gas may be most effectively attained by the use of the oxygen rich air in accordance with this invention.
