Abstract

PURPOSE:To avoid a loss of remaining paper by providing a vacuum suction roller free of elevation to hold under sucking the take-out end of the new winding paper and to splice the new and the old winding papers. CONSTITUTION:The winding paper 38 is fed at a high speed from a winding roll 26 to a printing section through a step roller 44 free of elevation. The end of the new winding paper 40 is held under sucking by a vacuum suction roller 74 near a running passage of the winding paper 38. The detection means 84 detects when the rear end of the winding paper 38 is approached, and actuates a switch valve 60 to feed air to a cylinder 50. The detection means 84, furthermore, drives a cylinder 76 which supports the vacuum suction roller 74 and lowers the roller 74 toward a roller 82, and the adhesives 80 is pressed by the rollers 74, 82 to splice the new and the old winding papers.
