Abstract

PURPOSE: To achieve indirect detection of resonant vibration of a work or tool, by detecting the vibration of a resonant board which resonates to the cutting vibration of the work or tool, while holding some mutual relationship.
CONSTITUTION: A resonance sensing pick up 12 is set on some easily resonating spot of a resonant board 11 fixed to the side face of saddle 7. The resonant board 11 should be made of thin steel plate with a considerably wide area, and capable of resonating to the overall frequency range as well as able to detect the resonant point even though the style of machine work is altered. With this sort of contrivance, the resonance detecting device and position can be arranged with a simple apparatus apart from the machine working area, and the assigned position belongs to a non- rotary area where unfavorable influence of cutting work can exert few effect.
