Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the liquid-leakage resisting performance of a button-type battery by providing the opening part of the positive can with an edge by forming a plate-like steel plate into a shape having a circular concave part, punching the plate into a dish-like member having the same center as the said concave part and having a diameter larger than that of the said concave part, and raising the flat part of the dish-like member upward. CONSTITUTION:A hoop material 1 made of a cold-rolled steel plate is punched into a circular plate 6 by means of a stamping punch 4 when the periphery of the material 1 is connected to a coupling piece. Next, the plate 6 is provided with a circular concave part 8 by means of a drawing metal die 7, and is punched with a punching metal die 9 into a dish-like member 11 which has the same center as the concave part 8 and has a diameter larger than that of the part 8. After that, a flat part 10 of the member 11 is raised upward by means of a punch 13, thus a positive can 14 being manufactured. Since an edge 15 is formed on the inner wall of the opening part of the can 14, the edge 15 encroaches upon a gasket 17 and presses the gasket 17 when a button-like battery is assembled by use of the can 14. Consequently, the liquid-leakage resisting performance of the battery can be greatly increased.
