Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a superior copy using a simple recording material capable of moving at high speed, by providing a first magnetic material layer having a uniform magnetized pattern and a second magnetic material layer magnetizable thermally, on a substrate, forming a magnetic latent image by heating, and erasing it by an AC magnetic field. CONSTITUTION:A first magnetic layer 2 made by dispersing a fine powder, such as Fe or gamma-Fe2O3, into a binder is formed on a substrate of an aluminum drum or the like, and cyclic magnetized pattern recurring at each 1-200mum unit interval in one direction is formed on the layer 2. When needed, an interlayer 3 made of a polyimide or the like resin for shielding heat is formed, a thermally magnetizable second magnetic layer 4 is provided on the layer 3, and when needed, a protective layer 5 made of polyimide or the like is further formed on the layer 4, thus forming a magnetic recording layer. As this material is being rotated in the A direction, the heat pattern is converted into a magnetic latent image with a thermal heat array 14 to make a record on the layer 4, and it is developed by feeding a magnetic developer 16, and transferred to a transfer paper 19. After the transfer, the remaining developer 16 is removed with a brush roller 22, and the latent image is erased by application of an alternating magnetic field with a demagnetizer 23 to make ready for the next new record.
