Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain an electrode and battery with excellent workability and strength by using a polymer compound having the iodine holding capability, as a positive electrode where the electrolyte of the battery is a solution of a metal iodide. CONSTITUTION:A metal plate of zinc is used as a negative electrode 1, a metal iodide solution comprising an aqueous solution of zinc iodide is used as an electrolyte 2, and a polymer compound having the iodine holding capability is used as a positive electrode 3, and thus a battery is formed. The positive electrode 3 is prepared through such a process, for example, in which powders of polyvinyl alcohol and iodine are ground and mixed, press-molded at a room temperature to form a solid disc, and copper wire 4 is connected to Its edge using a conductive resin. A battery with a voltage of 1.3V and current value of 2mA is thus obtained. Other many polymers such as poly (2,5 ethylene) may be usable as the polymer compound, and the battery can be utilized as a storage battery.
