Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase and decrease the diameter of a drum through simple constitution and operation, by using an inverted-cone-shaped member to expand and contract a split ring radially divided into numerous sections.
CONSTITUTION: When a screw cylinder 5 is rotated down, its lower end presses down the top of an inverted-cone-shaped cylinder 2 so that the slope 23 of the cylinder 2 pushes out a split ring 1. Consequently, the outside diameter of a drum defined by arc-shaped outside facets 12 is increased. Since the force of a spring 53 is applied downwards through a collection ring 3, the shape of the expanded drum is so stable that the split ring 1 does not fall asunder. When the screw cylinder 5 is lifted, the inverted-cone-shaped cylinder 2 is elevated by the force of a push-up spring to thrust the split ring 1 by the collection ring 3 so that the outside diameter of the drum is smoothly decreased.
