Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable to remove flashes by a weak force by a method wherein at least one of molds is provided with a means for enabling a product part and the other part to perform relative movement in the direction perpendicular to the mating surface of the mold, and the product part is pressed against the other mold after vulcanization molding. CONSTITUTION:An unvulcanized rubber is fed into a cavity 4, and the upper and the lower mold are mated to each other at a mating surface 3. This assembly is placed in a press for vulcanization molding, and flat plates 8, 9 and the upper and lower molds 1, 2 therebetween are compressed and heated. The cavity 4 is filled with the vulcanized rubber, part of the rubber coming out at the mating surface 3 in the form of a rubber flash and vulcanized. The upper and lower molds are taken out, the flat plate 9 is removed, and a pressing plate 11 provided with a projection 10 for pressing only the ring 5 is placed on the upper mold and is pressed toward the flat plate 8. The lowermost end 12 of the ring 5 of the upper mold coincides with the corresponding uppermost end of the ring of the lower mold, cutting off the rubber flash to perfectly separate the O-ring and the rubber flash from each other. Accordingly, the rubber flash can be cut off by a weak force without compressing the wide part other than the product of the flash.
