Abstract

PURPOSE:To effectively break the defective current of an AC generator by providing two stationary coils connected in series with two independent magnetic circuits and shortcircuiting the one stationary coil when a ground-fault accident or the like occurs in a system, thereby generating the defective current at a zero point. CONSTITUTION:Stationary coils 1, 2 having independent magnetic circuits and connected to a system are connected in series with each other, are excited by exciting coils 5, 6 secured to a rotational shaft 3 which is driven by a prime mover 4, a switch 16 for throwing an impedance 15 is connected to the coil 1, thereby forming a shortcircuit. The coils 1, 2 are excited in reverse direction, the coil 1 is shortcircuited by throwing the switch 16 when a ground-fault accident or the like occurs in a system to enhance the generated voltage of the generator, thereby increasing the AC component of the shortcircuit current. Accordingly, zero current nothing phenomenon is not produced due to the defective current, thereby effectively operating the breaker.
