Abstract
PURPOSE:To protect a synchronous motor by detecting the saturated current of a transformer connected between the motor and a system with an air core current transformer and an integrator and throttling the field current and the output of a semiconductor power converter. CONSTITUTION:The armature 1 of a synchronous motor is connected through a transformer 3 to a system, and the AC power of the system is converted by a semiconductor power converter 2 to AC power having variable frequency and variable power to be driven. The saturated current of the transformer 3 is detected by an air core current transformer 12, is then integrated by an integrated 13, and when the signal becomes higher than the set value, a command is applied to a field 9 and the converter 2, thereby throttling the output current, and suppressing the saturated current flowing to the transformer 3. Accordingly, the low frequency and large current due to the saturation phenomenon of the transformer 3 can be accurately detected by the transformer 12, thereby effectively protecting the motor and the transformer.
