Abstract
PURPOSE:To simplify construction of a balance piston, by utilizing a bearing casing, sealing a journal bearing in a low pressure turbine part, and providing the balance piston. CONSTITUTION:A bearing cover 12 is provided with size and shape for covering a rotor stepped difference part 14 from the end of a rotor 11, and the inside of said cover is sealed from an intermediate pressure turbine casing by a labyrinth packing 15 in a large contour part of the rotor in the position of an intermediate pressure turbine 10. Sealing air at slightly higher pressure than high temperature and high pressure gas is supplied to space between the intermediate pressure turbine casing 8 and the bearing cover 12, then the high temperature and high pressure gas from a high pressure turbine is confined to the inside of a duct 9, simultaneously the duct 9 is cooled. Applied pressure to the rotor stepped difference part 14 is cancelled or decreased, and reversly acting thrust force can be reduced by the amount of cancellation or decrease of said pressure.
