Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate production, and mixing of a toner with a coloring agent, etc., and to make many times of formation of visible images possible by using a polymer wherein the content of impurities by an emulsifier is <=1.2wt% based on the weight of a binder resin, as the binder resin. CONSTITUTION:A coagulant such as sulfuric acid is added to an emulsion contg. a fine particulate resin in the stage when an emulsion polymn. stage is finished, whereby the binding between the resin and the emulsifier is broken and the resin is coagulated, after which the coagulated resin is treated with an aq. alkali soln., and is then rinsed and solidified, whereby a binder resin wherein the content of the impurities by the emulsifier is <=1.2wt% is produced. A coloring agent, fine powder of a magnetic material, and other additives are mixed with this binder resin, and the mixture is subjected to a dispersion treatment for 24hr with, for example, a ball mill, after which it is kneaded with hot rolls or the like. The lump material obtained after cooling of this mixture is ground, and the particles of required grain sizes are sieved out, whereby the toner for electrostatic charge development is obtained.
