Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the print quality of an impact type dot printer equipped with a rotary drum on which protruded parts extending in the direction of its axis are provided and a hammer which crosses the protruded parts perpendicularly by driving its printing mechanism at an interval of n-1(n>2) pieces of print timing pulse. CONSTITUTION:A rotary drum 2 fixed to a drive shaft 1 rotates continuously. On the outer circumference of the rotary drum 2, protruded portions 3 parallel to its axis are formed. In front of the rotary drum 2, a print head 4 is arranged opposingly thereto. The print head 4 is equipped with a print hammer device in the form of cantilever 6 provided with a striking member 8. The printing of 1 dot is carried out at the intersection of a protruded part 3 of the rotary drum 2 and the striking member 8. Since it becomes possible to change the print positions of dots without decreasing print speed by such an arrangement wherein print timing pulses are set to, for instance, a half of the length of time of the limit drive cycle and printing is performed at every odd numbered pulse or even numbered pulse, the quality of characters can be improved.
