Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease the number of light sources of a reader, by forming a luminous body by storing 2 light emitting elements which emit light in each different color, into 1 package, supplying in order a current whose quantity is different in each stage, to each light emitting element, and emitting light in prescribed different colors. CONSTITUTION:A multicolor original 3 placed on a platen 2 of a transparent original placing plate of a facsimile, etc. is projected by a luminous body 1, and its reflected optical image is ready by a picture reading element 4. On this luminous body 1, a red light emission diode 11 and a blue light emission diode 12, which emit a different color each other are provided, and the whole is stored in 1 package. To the respective diodes of this luminous body 1, electric power sources E1, E2 for supplying different currents are connected. In this state, when voltage of one electric power source E1 or E2 is set to ''0'', and the other electric power source E2 or E1 is set to prescribed voltage, blue or right is emitted from the diode 12 or 11, the element 4 reads information of its color, and when voltage is applied to the electric power sources E1, E2, both the diodes 11, 12 emit light, and information of a mixed color is read.
