Abstract

PURPOSE:To harden a mold with safe carbon dioxide, to make immediate rapping at room temp. possible and to improve the collapsing property of the mold by adding and mixing specific org. materials to and with the refractory particles, and hardening these with carbon dioxide. CONSTITUTION:A mold binder material consisting of a mixture of a phenolic resin and one kind of hydroxides, oxides and chlorides of polyvalent metals which are one kind or a mixture of hydroxides, oxides and chlorides of alkaline earth metals, water, a hydroxide of alkali metals, an epoxy compd., and if necessary, alcohols is added and mixed to and with refractory particles. This is hardened with carbon dioxide, whereby a mold is produced. The hydroxide of the alkaline earth metals is calcium hydroxide, and the hydroxide of the alkali metals is sodium hydroxide.
