Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a picture reproduction having excellent reproducibility from the light part through the shadow part, by showing a picture having the gradation of concentration by means of the halftone spots or straight lines of different number of screens lines in accordance with the concentration of the picture. CONSTITUTION:For the reproduction of a picture having the gradation of concentration, a large number of screen lines is set for the halftone spots or straight lines at the light part and a small number of screen lines is set to the number of screen lines at the shadow part respectively in accordance with the level of concentration of the picture. Then the divided exposure is carried out to a photosensitive material by using >=2 types of film masks in accordance with the concentration. This photosensitive material receives the development and printing to obtain a picture reproduction. For instance, a plate making lithofilm is used for the photosensitive material to obtain a printing original plate film in the form of a picture reproduction as mentioned above. Using this film, a printing plate is produced. Otherwise a plate making scanner is used to give a digital process to the picture element information, and a picture is formed by the halftone spots. In such a way, a monochrome or color picture can be reproduced with excellent reproducibility.
