Abstract
PURPOSE:To treat a material containing harmful substances such as a halogen, heavy metal, etc. while collecting the harmful substances in a dry state, and to make the material harmless or to reduce its weight, by sending the material to a fluidized bed containing an iron material and a carbonaceous material kept at high temperature. CONSTITUTION:Industrial waste such as a halogen-containing substance or waste plastic containing it is sent to a fluidized bed[a grate or a fluidized bed furnace having a blow inlet for blowing a fluidizing gas (air, flue gas etc.) with circling it at the bottom of the furnace]to which an iron material (e.g., waste iron, iron oxide, etc.) and a carbonaceous material (e.g., lignite, solid carbon, etc.), and treated at the temperature of the fluidized bed of 430-620 deg.C. Namely, the halogen-containing a substance is decomposed to evolve a halogen or a hydrogen halide, etc., which is reacted with the iron material in the fluidized bed or scattering toward the top of the furnace and collected as a stable iron compound. The discharged particles contain tri-iron tetraoxide is selected by magnetic force, subjected to removal of hydrochloric acid, and can be used directly or after being sintered.
