Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve durability of an industrial hard roll used for paper manufacture or the like, by integrally forming a hardening resin fiber reinforcement layer to the periphery of a metallic roll core having a roughed surface and a hardening resin unwoven fabric layer to the peiphery of said hardening resin fiber reinforcement layer. CONSTITUTION:Many grooves are spirally formed on the peripheral surface of a metallic roll core 1 made of iron or the like, and a fiber reinforcement layer 2, impregnated with a mixture of hardening resin and fine inorganic powder, is formed to the peiphery of said grooves. In this case, the layer 2 is constituted by three layers of a robing layer 2a, cross tape layer 2b and robing layer 2c. Said fiber reinforcement layer 2 is set to 2-5mm. in thickness. Then an unwoven fabric tape layer 3, impregnated with a same mixture as for the reinforcement layer 2, is formed to thickness about 5-30mm. on the periphery of said layer 2. In this constitution, strength of the roll in compression resistance, destructive resistance, etc. can be increased to improve durability of the roll itself.
