Abstract
PURPOSE:To confine harmful pore water in sludge layer by subjecting the sludge layer to a vacuum consolidation by a method in which the sludge layer is covered with sand mat and a water shield film and the pore water inside the sand mat is drained through a drain age well piercing the sand mat and water shield film. CONSTITUTION:A drainage well 5 is vertically provided in a sludge layer 1, the surface of the sludge layer 1 is covered with a water-permeable civil sheet 2, a coarse sand mat 3 is formed over the sheet 2, and the coarse sand mat 3 is further covered with a water shield film 4 capable of preventing the leak of water from joints. Then, banking for constructing the ground is formed on the water shield film 4, and a paper drain 6 is provided as needed in the sludge layer 1. Then, an under-water pump 7 inside the drainage well 5 is operated to discharge the pore wate in the sand mat 3 and thereby to lower the water level in such a way as to evacuate the inside of the sand mat 3. The consolidation of the sludge layer 1 is accelerated by the vacuum pressure and the banking pressure. Thus, harmful water in the sludge layer 1 is pushed out of the paper drain 6 to the sand mat 3 and then discharged through the drainage well 5 from a flow port 9 to the outside.
