Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the thermal recording medium giving a record having high resolution and being free from nonuniformity and omissions by providing a thermally-fusible ink layer on a paper sheet having specific smoothness, transparency and thickness. CONSTITUTION:A composition for forming the thermally-fusible ink layer is obtained by mixing a binder agent (e.g. carnauba wax) of 5-55wt%, petroleum resin 0.5-10wt%, a softening agent (e.g. polyvinyl acetate) of 5-40wt%, and a coloring agent of 2-25wt% formed of a preceding substance of dye (e.g. phenothiazine) and an organic or inorganic acid (e.g. benzoic acid) being solid (half- solid) at the normal temperature. Next, the aforesaid composition is applied 1-15mu thick on a paper sheet having Bekk smoothness of the surface of 5,000- 70,000sec, the transparency of 50-90% and the thickness of 5-50mu, thereby the thermally-fusible ink layer is provided.
