Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the drawbacks that normal paper cannot be copied, that the copying speed is at a low level, that firmness if deteriorated and that the copy can be easily altered, by using a preset thermal recording medium in a thermal recorder such as a thermal printer. CONSTITUTION:A substrate 1 has its surface formed with such a heat-sensitive coloring layer 2 having a thickness less than about 10 microns as has a dye precursor and a (semi) solid acid dispersed in a binder. The back of the substrate 1 is formed with such a thermally melting ink layer 3 having a thickness less than about 15 mircons as is composed of a powdered thermally conductie substance having a thermal conductivity of 6.0X10<-4> to 25.0X10<-4> cal/sec. deg.C and solid wax having a penetration of 10 to 30 (25 deg.C). The thermally recording medium 4 is overlaid on a copy sheet 5 of normal paper and a platen 6, and pluses corresponding to a printing pattern are applied from terminals 8 and 9 to a thermal head 7. Then, a printed image 11 is formed on the layer 2, and a copies image 12 is formed on the sheet 5.
