Abstract

PURPOSE: A cyclic diorganopolysiloxane is polymerized in the presence of an alkali metal hydroxide or silanolate and polyethylene glycol dialkyl ether to produce the titled polymer continuously under good operation environments.
CONSTITUTION: (A) At least one of cyclic diorganopolysiloxanes of formula I (R1, R2 are monovalent hydrocarbon group or its substituted one; m is 3W8) is polymerized in the presence of (B) an alkali metal hydroxide such as potassium hydroxide or its silanolate such as potassium trimethyl silanolate and (C) polyethylene glycol dialkyl ether or formula II (R3, R4 are 1W10C alkyl; n is 2W10). Preferably, the component A is combined with (D) a straight-chain diorganopolysiloxane of formula III (R5WR8 are monovalent hydrocarbon; R9, R10 are hydroxyl, monovalent hydrocarbon; p is 1W200).
