Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the slip loss of an eddy current joint by a method wherein a differential gear device is lain between a main engine and an eddy current joint type AC generator and an induction machine is also coupled to the shafts of the epicyclic gears of the differential gear device. CONSTITUTION:The shaft 2a of the external gear wheel 2 of a differential gear device 1 is coupled to a main engine 5, the shaft 3a of the internal drive gear 3 of the device 1 to an eddy current joint type AC generator 6 and the shafts 4a of the epicyclic gears 4 of the device 1 to an induction machine 8 through a toothed wheel 7 respectively and the induction machine 8 is connected to an AC bus. When the rotating speed of the main engine 5 reaches predetermined rotating speed or over, a brake 8a is opened to operate the induction machine 8 as a generator and regenerative power corresponding to the degree of a rise in speed of the main engine 5 is supplied to the AC bus. In this way, the slip of the eddy current joint can be controlled at a fixed value or below and the power loss of the slip can be reduced.
