Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a plaster having improved prolonged action of drug and lasting medicinal effect for a long time, by adding a drug to a W/O type emulsion consisting of an oily phase of a lipophilic monomer and a water-phase containing an water- soluble polymer, followed by irradiating the emulsion with ionizing radiation to form a polymer layer.
CONSTITUTION: An oily phase component consisting of a lipopholic monomer alone or a mixed system of the monomer and a polymer is blended with a water phase component obtained by dissolving a water-soluble polymer (preferably a concentration of 0.2W10wt%) in a blending ratio of the oily phase component to the water phase component of 100pts.wt. to 10W200pts.wt., to give a W/O type or (O/W)/O type emulsion. A drug is added to the emulsion, which is applied to the substrate 1. The emulsion is polymerized crosslinked by irradiation of ionizing radiation, to form the polymer layer 2 wherein the dispersion phase 2B containing the water-soluble polymer is dispersed in the continuous phase 2A consisting of the oily phase containing the drug. The dense structure caused by the crosslinking of the continuous phase 2 and the existence of the dispersion phase 2B which is slightly removable by diffusion rate in the continuous phase.
