Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve extremely the thermal conductivity between a metal and a hydride and to utilize the reaction heat between the metal and the hydride effectively, by holding a metal hydride for absorbing and desorbing hydrogen in the spaces between filament bundles in a airtight sealing container. CONSTITUTION:The tows, bundles of entangled filaments, slivers obtained by cutting them in lengths, twisted yarn, spun yarn, or their bundles 3 are admixed with the metal hydride 1. A metal, synthetic high polymer, etc. are used as the filaments 2. Extremely small voids are formed between the hydrides 1 and 1, the large spaces 4 are made between the filaments 2 and 2, and set long along the filaments 2, so that they act as channels for diffusing H2 into the hydrides 1. The filaments 2 themselves transfer heat, and improve the thermal conductivity between the hydrides 1 and 1 or between the hydrides and the container 5. Since the hydrides 1 are not packed in the container 5 densely, the stress for straining the container 5 by the volume expansion of the container is relaxed.
