CONSTITUTION:A luminance signal Y obtained by a gamma correcting circuit 523 is inputted to a gamma correcting circuit 515 which corrects the nonlinearity of liquid crystal and after correction, the resulting signal is led to a liquid crystal display body through a buffer amplifier 516. Display brightness on a cathode-ray tube is proportional to a driving voltage raised to 2.2th power, and therefore gamma=1/2.2 compressed at a high level side is used for a signal gamma-1. A pattern generating circuit 512 generates this signal gamma=1/2.2. Using this signal adjusts the circuit 515 correctly to the characteristics of the liquid crystal display body.
