Abstract

PURPOSE: A specific oligopetptide is bonded to a cephalosporin derivative with antibacterial activity to improve the absorption of the cephalosporin derivative through intestinal tracts, thus enabling its oral administration.
CONSTITUTION: A peptide of formulaI[X is H, R3CO-(R3 is H, alkyl), protecting group, which can be readily removed by acidolysis, hydrogenolysis or with an enzyme in a living body; R1, R2 are side chain of aminoacid; n is 1W3]is bonded to a side chain in the 3-, 4- or 7-position in 7-ACA derivative with antibacterial activity. Thus, a cephalosporin, which is substantially not absorbed orally, becomes intestinally absorbable by this process, thus enabling oral administration. The typical examples of 7-ACA derivative is a group of compounds of formula II (R4 is group of formula III, IV; R5 is methyl, chlorine, H; R6 is H, alkali metal).
