CONSTITUTION:An input waveform signal is stored once in a memory 2 for each sampling point via a D/A converter 1 and then transferred to a refresh memory 4 through a control part 3 to be stored in the form of a dot data. A CRT controller 5 always displays the contents of the memory 4 at a CRT6. As a result, the fetched data is displayed at the CRT6 in the formed of a compressed data. In this case, the data are divided into blocks S1, S2- with every M pieces. Then the maximum value is extracted out of each block as the representative value of the corresponding block to be transferred to the memory 4. As a result, the peak waveform is also displayed on the CRT6 surely.
