Abstract
PURPOSE: A silicon-base, refractory airtight sealing material with highly refractory performance, obtd. by the addition of an inorg. hydrate, a phosphate ester and an inorg. fiber to a liquid raw material for silicon foam.
CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. liquid raw material for silicone foam is mixed with 10W40pts.wt. inorg. hydrate having 20W50wt% OH group or H2O and undergoing an endothermic dehydrating reaction at 60W500°C, 10W40pts.wt. phosphate ester and 0.5W3pts.wt. inorg. fiber. The silicone foam is represented by cold- curing silicone foam, which is prepd. by the dehydrating condensation of a siloxane having a hydroxy group with a siloxane having a silanol group in the presence of a catalyst at normal temp. followed by cold and expansion by use of hydrogen gas evolved in said condensation. Additionally, a filler such as a fine silica powder or titanium oxide is added to the liquid raw material in order to enhance characteristics of the silicon foam.
