Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:Metal complex compounds of formulaIwherein X is H, lower alkyl, alkoxy, nitro, halogen; n is 1, 2; m is 1W3; M is Cr, Co; A+ is H, Na, K or ammonium ion.
USE: Toners for electrophotography (the bulk density is very low and surface area is verg large). Colorants for resins and paints for woodworking (the compounds are excellent in resistance to heat, water and light).
PREPARATION: A diazo component of formula II is diazotized. The resulting diazonium compd. is coupled with an azo component of formula III to produce a monoazo compound of formula IV. This monoazo compound is treated with a chromium-complexing agent or a cobalt-complexing agent in water or an org. solvent with heating to produce the desired compound.
