CONSTITUTION:A magnetic coating material is prepd. using a binder wherein 1-50wt% liquid epoxy resin, especially, cycloaliphatic epoxy resin basing on the total quantity of the binder is added to a vinylidene copolymer such as vinylidene chloride-vinyl chloride copolymer. Polyurethane elastomer and polyisocyanate may be added to this coating material for the purpose of enhancing the flexibility and the strength. Since this magnetic coating material is prevented from being thickened and gelling during the production, the use, and the preservation, the coating workability is not spoiled and, a long-life magnetic tape superior in electromagnetic conversion characteristic and surface smoothness which runs smoothly is obtained.
