NEW MATERIAL:The tetrakis(tertiary-butyl thiolato)molybdenum (IV).
USE: Synthetic intermediate of Mo complex. It has excellent substituting activity. For example, the compound reacts easily with alkyl isocyanide or CO to afford a molybdenum complex. The complex can be utilized as a catalyst for oxidation, reduction, etc., or for the synthesis of a compound similar to the active center of molybdo-enzyme.
PROCESS: The compound of formulaIis prepared, e.g. by reacting the compound of formula II (Me is alkali metal) with the compound of formula III (X is halogen) in an organic solvent such as 1,2-dimethoxyethane at -30W+50°C.
