Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the catalyst controlling an oxidizing ratio of SO2 and oxidizing CO in good efficiency, as the CO oxidizing catalyst, by forming a titanium oxide coating layer on a carrier and on a catalyst layer.
CONSTITUTION: As the catalyst oxidizing carbon monoxide to make the same harmless, a catalyst layer comprising a platinum group noble metal such as platimum, rhodium or the like or a mixture thereof is supported on the surface of a carrier such as alumina or alumina-silica and a titanium oxide layer is further coated on the catalyst layer. Thus obtained catalyst controls the oxidizing ratio of SO2 contained in an exhaust gas from a combustor or an automobile along with CO and oxidizes CO in good efficiency.
