Abstract

PURPOSE: To economically manufacture high silica faujasite having large crystal diameter by using Na4SiO4 as a principal SiO2 feeding source, partially mixing silica sol, and heat reacting them with NaAlO2.
CONSTITUTION: The 1st aqueous mixture having a molar composition represented by formulaIis prepared using silica sol, NaAlO2 and NaOH as starting materials, and it is aged under conditions which do not cause crystallization. The 2nd aqueous mixture having a molar composition represented by formula II (where X is the acid group of mineral acid represented by a bivalent one) is prepared using Na4SiO4, NaAlO2 and mineral acid. The aged 1st mixture is mixed with the 2nd mixture in 3:97W30:70 weight ratio, and the resulting mixture is heated at a temp. causing crystallization for a sufficient time. By this method, faujasite type zeolite having ≥4 molar ration of SiO2/Al2O3 and ≥1,400Å crystal diameter is manufactured.
