Abstract
PURPOSE:To decrease the number of components and to realize a small and lightweight structure for an optical connector, by covering en bloc a connector plug and its joint part with a heat shrinkable tube. CONSTITUTION:A single-core optical fiber connector consists of a split sleeve 8, a connector plug 7 (made of a plug intermediate element 3) inserted into the sleeve 8 and a heat-shrinkable tube 18. An optical fiber 1 coated with a coating material 2 is stuck to the element 3 via an adhesive, etc. The tube 18 shrinks 50-70% in its radius direction by heating and accordingly bites exactly an uneven part 17 in the circumferential direction which is formed on the outer circumference surface of the plug 7. Thus the joint part is perfectly sealed up.
