Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a self-propelled printer which prints characters without using print hammers while moving on a sheet of paper by such an arrangement wherein a moving cam rotates upon receipt of a print command and a projected point moves away from the paper and aligned characters are then printed. CONSTITUTION:Under stand-by condition prior to printing, the projected point 2a of a moving cam 2 is brought to contact with a sheet of paper 7 and a type drum 1 is away from the paper 7. When data such as numerical values, etc. are given by a keyboard, etc., corresponding types are selected and caused to align at positions opposing to the paper 7. Upon completion of alignment, the moving cam 2, upon receipt of a print command, moves in the direction of D, the projected point 2a moves away from the surface of paper, the type drum 1 is brought to contact with the paper 7, prints characters and rotates further and stops at the position of stand-by. Also since the main body of a printer moves while the projected point 2a of the cam 2 is held contacted with the paper 7, in other words while the projected point 2a draws the locus of an arc a b c, the pitch of print lines becomes the length of a c.
