Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect the tape winding amount accurately and quickly, by obtaining a tape average thickness from a time which rotates a tape of reel hub by one and a time rotating one revolution of the tape at a constant speed after winding in a high speed. CONSTITUTION:The revolution of a reel hub 1 is delivered to a synchronizing rotating body 3, and electric signal corresponding to the number of revolutions is induced at a Hall element 4 located near the body 3 and it is processed at an arithmetic controller 6. With this constitution, a time requiring for one revolution of the reel hub 1 at the reproducing mode is measured. Then, at the fast forward mode, when the reel hub 1 rotates by 30 revolutions, the mode is changed again to the reproducing mode, and the time required for one revolution of the reel hub 1 at constant speed is measured, and the both is processed at a computer 6 with a prescribed Equation to calculate the tape thickness DELTA.
