Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform a dephosphorization treatment effectively by holding the molten iron temp. during blowing in a specific range and blowing and charging a powdery refining agent, a flux, and a bottom blowing gas under specific conditions. CONSTITUTION:In a preliminary treatment for molten iron, the temp. elevation owing to the evolution of heat in accordance with the blowing treatment of the molten iron is suppressed by charging of coolants consisting of at least 1 kind of ore, mill scale, and scraps, whereby the molten iron temp. during blowing is maintained at 1,250-1,450 deg.C. A powdery refining agent is blown into the molten iron after it is so controlled with calcium carbonate which is a main component that the slag basicity CaO/SiO2 after the treatment of the molten iron is >=3. At least 1 kind of fluorite, cryolite, colemanite, and red mud which are the flux are chanrged in the state of lumps through the opening in the top part of the vessel. The bottom blowing gas is blown at about >=0.5Nm<3> feed rate per ton of the molten iron with respect to the amt of oxygen in the 8-15Nm<3> range per ton of the molten iron wherein the amt. of oxygen by charging of the coolants is taken into account but the amt. of oxygen consumed for desiliconization reaction is excluded.
