Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a coated article having improved surface conditions, by disbersing a mixed resin composition containing a polymer having amino groups with a polymer havng crosslinkable double bonds in water, electrodepositing the composition on an article, and baking the resultant film.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A polymer, having two or more amino groups, and expressed by the formula (R1 is isopropyl, tert-butyl group, etc.; X is a bifunctional group in which the element linked to the N is the carbon atom of a phenylene group, etc.) and (B) a polymer, capable of adding and crosslinking with the component (A), and having α,β-ethylenic double bonds adjacent to carbonyl groups at an equivalent ratio between troups expressed by the formula and the double bonds in the polyer (B) preferably in the range of (50:1)W(1:50) are mixed with a solvent or molten, and water and an acid, e.g. hydrochloric or acetic acid, are added thereto. The resultant mixture is then formed into an aqueous dispersion at a pH ≥6.5, preferably 6.5W7.5, and then electrodeposited on an article. The resultant film is then baked at 120°C or above, crosslinked and cured.
