Abstract

PURPOSE: To recover carbon and metal, while utilizing generated gas as a heat source for dry distillation, in a treatment of metal shredded trash, by dry-distillating and carburizing a large amount of shredded trash such as scrapped cars and electric domestic appliances.
CONSTITUTION: Shredded trash formed by shredding metals of scrapped cars, electric domestic appliances or the like is subjected to dry distillation to recover carbon. At the same time, generated gas is utilized as a heat source for the dry distillation, while iron and nonferrous metals contained in the carburized matter are sorted and reused. Consequently, iron and nonferrous metal contents running out of a magnetic separator can be effectively recovered as a source by the dry distillation.
