Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a brazed holographic grating which has high efficiency of transformation to a scanning beam, by performing overlap recording while varying the quantity of light of interference fringes made sharp and changing spatial positions continuously. CONSTITUTION:Monochromatic light 20 from a laser 5 passes through an optical modulator 6, and is reflected by a mirror 7 and then divided by a half-mirror 8 into object light 21 and reference light 22. The object light 21 is made incident to a recording plate 13 via lenses 9-11, and the reference light 22 is passed through an optical wedge 14 to have a diverged wave surface and made incident to the recording plate 13 as well. On the recording plate 13, a recording material 16 is placed between a semitransmissive mirror 17 and a reflecting mirror 18 to make interference fringes sharp. The optical converter 6 varies exposure in a saw-tooth wave shape, and the reference light 22 is varied in phase amount by moving the optical wedge 14 by a fine movement mechanism 15 to move the interference franges, so that a holographic grating which has saw-tooth wave density distribution and high efficiency of transformation to a scanning beam is obtained.
