Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the simultaneous and efficient cleansing and drying of a plural number of optional cells, by a method wherein, after openings of a plural number of optical cells, which are connected to each other, are closed off with a cover member, cleansing water and compressed air are supplied. CONSTITUTION:At a measuring time, an inspection substance and a reagent are poured separately into each optical cell 11 through perforations 22 in a cover member 23 by means of a nozzle, and a measurement is performed by means of a light source 24 and a detector 25. After measuring is completed, with a drive member worked, the cover member 23 is moved to close off an opening at the upper part of the optical cell 11. Simultaneously, with a pump 19 activated, the reaction liquid in the optical cells 11 is discharged into a tank 15 through a connecting pipe 14, and a cleansing liquid 20 is also supplied. After the cleansing water is fed, in turn, into the optical cells 11 through the connecting paths 13, it is discharged. After sufficient cleansing is conducted, compressed air is fed with a pump 21 being activated, and a residual water is removed gradually. This permits the efficient cleansing and drying, and enables to perform a mesurement without the movement of the optical cell.
